I've mostly been away from Thailand for a while, and I know that Tourist Visa and Entry Stamps have been in a state of flux last year. So, I just want to check I have the up-to-date information.

I haven't managed to get a Tourist Visa this time. (10 minutes late at the consulate today - bad planning). So flying in on Monday intending to get a 30 day stamp at the airport.

Q1. I don't have an outbound ticket. Are they checking up at the moment? Will I have a problem? Don Mueang Airport.

I want to stay at least 60days - hence the following questions...

Q2. I can pay B1900 and get ONE 30 day extension to my 30 day stamp - right? Is it added from the day of application? - or the expiry of the 30 days?

Q3. I take it can't do an out-in visa run. so, how many days do I need to be out of Thailand, before I can return and get 30 days?

Thanks

Immigration does not ask for a ticket out of the country but the airline can deny boarding if you don't have one.

You can apply for a 30 day extension of a visa exempt entry for a fee of 1900 baht. The extension will start at the end of the 30 day entry.

You can do one out/in border run without staying out of the country. You will only get 15 days at at border crossing unless you are from a G7 country which will allow you a 30 day entry.

OK, thanks. I hadn't realised I was allowed one out-in visa run.

Note that I'm a UK National, and flying Air Asia from Kuala Lumpur.

I read another post where someone spoke about difficulties getting a stamp at the Mae Sai border.

I've already got my 30 day extension to my 30 day visa exempt stamp (flew in). But I just want a couple more weeks - so I was going to head for the border from Chiang Mai - to get my one-off 30 day out-in stamp. (In fact, I was going to book up a tour with this on the itinerary).

30 day visa exempt (airport, not in Thailand in the months previous) + 30 day extension + 30 day out-in visa exempt.

I believe that I should be able to do this. Unless anyone has any specific warnings about this border?

You can try to get one since it will be your first at the border. It would be wise to do it early in case they don't let you leave the country to get another entry.

You can try, bring documents and reason to convince the officers. But if they will refuse, you will be pressed to take another long journey to Laos, or fly out. For this reason I would rather fly out directly, e.g. Penang that is nice, no visa needed for Malaysia.
