BANGKOK: -- A Thai court has agreed to return three of 12 babies under state care to the eccentric, Japanese “super dad” who went on an insemination spree last year.

The Central Juvenile and Family Court agreed to grant custody of three babies born to Thai surrogate mothers to Mitsutoki Shigeta, the 24-year-old scion of a Japanese telecom billionaire, who abandoned them and fled the country when police raided his baby storage facility.

Shigeta is believed to have paid to father upward of 15 or more babies with surrogate mothers around the world, mostly in Thailand. His motivations have remained unclear; Shigeta himself has given many reasons including wanting to create an army of voters to elect him into public office as well as wanting to make them all rich when he dies.

But seriously, why wouldn't you award kids to this man?

Those poor babies were very well cared for financially and emotionally. The fact that he continues to fight for them and refuses to abandon them, speaks volumes. They should release all of the babies into the care of their families. The emotional damage to them over these last months is criminal.

A father of 15 kids at the age of 24.

Unfortunately geordie we are in LoS where being rich can make anything, everything right even when it's wrong.

Apart from that I judge Mitsutoki as an utter nutcase in dire need of psychiatric counseling, I find Coconuts Bangkok's choice of words often ...

The women were saying that they were paid and didn't have to have sex with him. There were Russian egg donors, too.

But who knows, some of the mothers may have done it the romantic and beautiful way with our Japanese Romeo, and then made those claims because they think it sounds more respectable to have jerked off into a cup and then turkey-basted the goods into the oven.

I fully agree with NongKhaiKid and worgeordie: This fellow is an absolute nutcase, and not fit to be a parent. While the kids will be financially taken care of, I pity them for the very twisted future they will have.

I wonder if he'll continue trying to get the rest of his litter, or if he'll feel satisfied with his three kids. And he already got two out of Thailand, right? That would make 5. I see the stage for a TV sitcom being set...

This is Thailand, why would you ever want to question what they do, you would never get the truth anyway

I wonder what the exchange rate is "Kid vs. Thai Baht" nowadays?

Let's just hope the court is applying due diligence and money is not circumventing the intent of the law.

I am though wondering if he would be interested in adopting some really, really old kids, or maybe even an adopt a TV uncle Scheme?
