45-year-old man files complaint with police against python

BANGKOK: -- A 45-year-old man filed a complaint with the Samut Prakan Muang district police station at noon Sunday against a two-metre-long python that bit him.

His presence frightened both police and civilians inside the station because the python was still wrapping around his right arm. Police did not know what charges to file against the snake so they called a rescue foundation to take it to be released into the wild. The man, who requested anonymity, received first aid treatment for the snakebite on his left arm.

"Police did not know what charges to file against the snake"

You mean they actually thought about it?

Don't believe that for a second, but it does conjure up quite funny images of someone checking the statutes for possible charges.

"The man, who requested anonymity"

I'll bet he did.

I suspect the 'files a complaint' and 'charges against the snake' are someone's idea of a joke.

No doubt he went to get help, which he got.

A scary situation to be in.

Would be good if they posted how to remove Python and unlock its jaws just for future references

Thailand is always good for a laugh. "And now for something completely different"

This could set a precedence........................Mosquitos be warned!!!

somebody married a snake in Thailand not so long ago, something about together in another life, dear god wub.png

I would like to have seen what the man was doing just before the snake got on his arm. I expect he was trying to show friends how well he can handle snakes--NOT!

They had to let the python go because after deciding on what crimes to charge the python with they could not figure out how to finger print the snake

It is not that easy to get them lose as the teeth are shaped in a way that keeps their prey from getting lose and backing out. You cannot just pull your arm lose or your thumb out of ones mouth. The mouth has to be opened wide and the teeth pryed free of the flesh.

It is fairly easy to make a python or other constrictor let go. The easiest is to put it's head under water. The fastest is to pour alcohol in it's mouth.

Have a look at these pictures. The link is actually from Snopes debunking the rumour that the pyton was caught in Australia. It was in fact caught in South Africa. Have a look at the teeth on this bugger, wouldn't like them sunk into any part of my person.

Nice to see there is still wildlife in Thai urban areas!

There are 2 ways.

1 - pour a small amount of alcohol (preferably hard liquor/spirits) into the snakes mouth. They will immediately release.

2. If alcohol is not close by (though some readers here will be OK biggrin.png ) get a towel (or very thick material - the pythons 100 teeth are long and very sharp). position your thumb in the side of the snakes mouth, as close to the jaw hinge as possible, and push thumb (covered with towel) into the snakes mouth. When the snake opens his mouth, push TOWARDS the nose of the snake (python's teeth are angled backward, so pulling back will do you more damage). When the head is removed from place of bite, hold the snake securely close behind it's head.

To unwrap a python - Start from the tail end while securely holding the head and unwind backwards, pushing - not pulling.

Above are from experience!!!

He should be filing his complaint and negligence law suit against the Thai police.

After a chat with police snake confessed to Koh Tao murders which I find more believable than who they caught.

While I am animal loving, I would stab into the spine behind the head, if I can't get there I would try to cut off whatever part I can reach.

Or to fart in it's face. If he wants compensation he should sue the Pope as it is one of Gods creatures and the Pope represents GOD.

Oh common Where's the photo

I'm surprised the snake didn't get offered a job at the station. It would have fitted in well.

As is the norm, here in Thailand, this snake will slither away from the charges, just like the politicians and Red Bull heirs. w00t.gif
