BANGKOK: -- A crew went to work this morning to make Gen. Prayuth Chan-ocha’s floating market a reality only to find some skeletons in the canal.

Twenty-five bone fragments thought to be human were retrieved near the Government House this morning from Phadung Krung Kasem canal during a cleanup operation and will be removed before visitors are welcomed to the floating market on Feb. 12.

Aside from what appears to be human leg, hip and back bones, authorities also found a tear gas cannister and electronic components that could be part of homemade bomb equipment.

Bones believed to belong to man found in canal near Government House

BANGKOK: -- Police, troops and workers of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration combed the bed of the Padung Krung Kasem Canal beside the Government House and found about 25 pieces of bones.

The authorities believed the bones came from the lower part of a human body but the Forensic Medicine Institute has yet to check and confirm it.

The canal was created in 1851 and it may be the bones of an earlier resident of Rattanakosin or judging by the fetid stench emanating from the klong which is a dead end, it could be the bones of someone thrown in a year ago. Toxic water at its finest.

If they were to check Government House, I'm sure they would find many skeletons in the closets as well.

Market dredging turns up bones, pipe bomb

BANGKOK: -- Police yesterday submitted 65 pieces of bone, discovered along with a tear gas cylinder, a pipe bomb and a giant firecracker, during the dredging of Pradongmanutum Canal.The bones have been taken for examination to the Institute of Forensic Science at the Police General Hospital to see if they were human.

A source reported that forensic doctors had not yet reached a conclusion from DNA testing, although some pieces looked like human leg and pelvic bones.

The canal dredging work is to turn this area near Government House into a floating market by February 12, according to Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha's instruction.

Many rumours concerning the fate of people who were involved in the recent demonstrations as well as others over the years, a little early to judge no doubt how long the original owner of the bones has been dead and of course what his or her connections to whatever group may have been.

Perhaps there may be a clue if there is a proven link twixt the tear gas canister and the deceased.

However the truth is really going to be about as rare as ''hens teeth'' pure conjecture which under the circumstances is about the only ''flexible'' course open in the matter.

Why don't they just ask someone from the public to come and collect his bones?

Something that we would all do well to remember is that this is not just limited to Thailand, human remains are regularly discovered in all countries, it happens in England very often, including young children sacrificed by Africans practicing witchcraft, below is a link (one of hundreds) about human remains found on the banks of The Thames (not far from the seat of power) always in these cases it is best to wait until some proof of a crime before we pass judgement.

definitely "no farang would buy from putrid floating markets"

To me these bones look very black, either the toxic water did it or the human was burned. Where are the upper torso remains?
