February 4, 201511 yr Here's a question for those that run the last model of Honda CR-V. Ours is the 2008 model with about 65k km on the clock, driven on regular roads and serviced by dealer at recommended intervals. There's a notable internal knock or rattle from the front-end (drive or suspension?) when driving on uneven surfaces. It is not audible from outside the car but seems to be transmitted through the body and very noticeable inside. Could it be worn or hard bushings? The tires are all very worn and I will be replacing those later today. Maybe that will make a difference since tires form the first level of suspension in all cars. But wondering if anyone else has had this problem and if they have had it sorted, was it an expensive fix? I noted that on waterworks road in north Pattaya, between Sukhumvit and the railroad tracks, there's a garage with a Honda sign outside (the shop is up a lane). Does anyone know of this shop and if it is still a Honda specialist or is it an old sign? Thanks, NL
February 5, 201511 yr Hi NL, The garage you refer to is very good and reasonably priced I have used him for 4/5 years never a problem
February 5, 201511 yr Author Hi NL, The garage you refer to is very good and reasonably priced I have used him for 4/5 years never a problem Thanks nosmo king. I am getting the car re-shod tomorrow (rubber weren't in stock yesterday) so will take it down there after I do.
February 6, 201511 yr Author Sound like ball-joints needs to be replaced. Yes, it is reminiscent of the steering 'clatter' that came with the pending replacement of the constant velocity joints on the old Austin Allegro.
February 8, 201511 yr Author Hi NL, The garage you refer to is very good and reasonably priced I have used him for 4/5 years never a problem Thanks nosmo king. I am getting the car re-shod tomorrow (rubber weren't in stock yesterday) so will take it down there after I do. Follow up; dropped by the Honda specialist shop and after a quick test drive to hear the problem, raised the car on the hoist. After some tapping and visual checks, called me over to show a vertically running tie rod on the passenger side front wheel that had a lot of play. Forty minutes later, drove away with a new tie rod and bushings. Parts = 3800 baht rod, 100 baht for 2 bushings + labor @ 300 baht. Total 4200 baht. Thanks for the recommendation. With the new tires, it rides like new again.
