Work Permit Expiring and renewal paperwork will not be ready

My work permit is about to expire and so far I have been told renewal paperwork may not be ready by expiration.

I can over stay or go over the border to get a tourist visa for a month.

Anyone have an opinion of the best option?

Not possible to "overstay" a work permit.

Only a staying in country beyond a "permission to stay date" obtained from a Visa or an extension of stay can one "overstay"

A work permit has nothing to do with overstaying.

I assume you nave an extension of stay based upon working you got at immigration. If that expires you are on overstay.
