I arranged to meet my friends at the Bamboo Bar near the junction of Beach Road and Walking Street.

I was supping on a beer when I noticed a crisp box (chips to those from the US) stashed under the small table. With the recent news of the Heathrow bomb plots still bubbling around, it crossed my mind that I would rather not be sitting near such an obvious hiding place for a bomb.

I called a nearby serving lady over and asked her if she was aware of the suspicious package. 'Mai pen rai,' she says and pointed out similar packages under several other tables. She told me that they were used to pack away ash trays, bins and the like. The staff were a little too lazy to take the boxes away to a store room.

'Mai pen rai' indeed! The Bamboo Bar becomes a popular late night music/dance venue and with such open access would be an ideal spot for a Bali bomber. People would have kittens in farangland if a bar provided such an obvious place to stash bombs.

Yes, good idea.

You go eliminate all the bomb threats.

I'm gonna do this other thing...

No Yanks Still the biggest target - The visit of the Kittyhawk only adds to the risk

When is the Kittyhawk due to come to Thailand,as it I would rather not be there when it does?

I went into the Bamboo once and in my opinion they should blow it up it was full of old tarts older than me. Yes I know nothing is older than me. Beach Rd is far better because you never know what you are getting>>> Allways carry a torch with you to be sure.

Maybe you should run far far away... like maybe back to where you came from. In case you haven't really noticed, Yank or no Yank doesn't really matter... what matters is, muslim vs Non-muslim.... muslim vs infidel...

If you can find one that isn't packing dynamite, you could hide under one of those muslim man dresses!

Never had the `pleasure` of going in there myself...but looking at the place from the outside I think that I made the right decision :o
