Firefox is much faster than IE but this time when I set it as my default browser all the Internet screens open with about a half inch gap on the right side and about an eighth inch on the bottom. If IE opens them with gaps once I stretch them where I want them they stay there the next time I open that page. Not a big deal but irritating.

Why you do not use the maximize buttom? That is the middle one in the upper right corner: before 1 square, after usin 2 square!

Fortunately, there’s an easy, permanent solution to your problem.

With Firefox open,

– maximise the window

– click on “File”

– while keeping the shift key pressed, click on “Exit”

From now on, when you open Firefox, it should open with the window maximised. I tried it out just now, and it worked.

Of course I can maximise the screen but it's irritating to have to do it every time I open a site. When I tried this;

--With Firefox open,

– maximise the window

– click on “File”

– while keeping the shift key pressed, click on “Exit”

The site exits and when I open it back up the gap is still there.

It looks like you have a corrupted localstore file - there is a complicated way of fixing this bug - however, probably easier to export your bookmarks to a My Documents as an HTML file,

then download Firefox's latest version, after doing so , if it has not picked your bookmarks, then import them from My Documents using Firefox's file>>import.

If After that, you are still getting the repeating smaller screen - come back and we can check for the bug in your current profile

I uninstalled Firefox and downloaded the latest and the greatest. Same problem. Maybe I'll go back to IE 6.

Hi Gary A,

I know this is off topic but I sincerely think it is relevant to your initial posting. If the mods decide to delete this then they are welcome.

Anyway, there are a vast amount of alternative browsers available besides the two you mentioned.

I currently use eight and the reason is that each browser has certain features built in and does not rely upon external kludges. When any of the browsers that I use is updated, I am confident that all the inherent features in the browser will work. I will not have to wait for any kludge to revise their versions to make them compatible with the updated parent browser.

Try searching for browsers and look at the inherent features that suit the way you browse the internet. I am positive there must be numerous alternative available to suit your requirements.

Cheers,

I have uninstalled the NOT ready for public use IE 7 and have gone back to IE 6. I was using Firefox because it is faster BUT with my TOT Ipstar working now I don't need the slight speed increase. Everything now suits me. I have tried some other browsers but sometimes it's better the devil that you know.

Since you decided to stay with IE 6 you might consider downloading this browser Avant. It uses the IE engine so it is 100% compatible but adds many nice features such as tabbed browsing and a more attractive interface.

Very good Browser Avant . I use it also on Windows when i need to have the "IE engine" compatibility ... however, i mainly use Opera which works fine most of time.. .
