printer?

Featured Replies

it looks like i need a printer,if we are able to do our 90day report online.

never used one before,so what i have read is,i only need a single function, ink or laser, this could be the only time it will get used.

so anyone with recommendations as what to buy, cheapy will do.

for a desk top pc.

cheers.

Inkjets can dry up and clog in the hot environment, lasers are more expensive but do tend to start reliably after a long holiday.

For such limited use it may be easier to make friends with a local office, print shop or internet cafe and use one of the free apps that will 'print' to a .pdf file which you can get them to print for you.

I have the cheapest Samsung laser (from InvadeIT) which always works first time. I also have a Canon A3 inkjet but it gets fairly regular use and doesn't get chance to dry up.

"I don't want to know why you can't. I want to know how you can!"

Use Chrome and you can print to PDF, then get the copy shop to print out the PDF from any flash drive. I also have a cheap Samsung B&W laser and apart from the whiff of smoke it likes to emit when printing it is great. Only in use a few times a year and always works. Brother have similar budget lasers. Definitely avoid ink jets if you don't use your printer often.

thanks guys i will send the mrs.out she can smell a cheapy miles away and buy one get one.w00t.gif

Show her this as an example of what you want.

Small, light and will feel flimsy, but it's all you need. Pay a bit more if you need a wi-fi version but otherwise you shouldn't pay more than 2,000. Ask her to go to your local JIB shop if you have one nearby as their prices are usually fair without the need to run around comparison shopping.

I have a cheap Brother laser DCP-1510 and the granddaughter has a HP Deskjet Ink Adv 2060 K110.

Both are printer/scanner/copier devices.

The Brother works smoothly and always ready.

The HP Ink is a steady source of "ink empty".

It always happens when it is needed (Murphys law).

Only "Advantage" is that you can cheaply refill it without problems (although it needs some learning).

It will still display "ink empty" or some bizzare "counterfeit cartridge" messages.

But both can be ignored.

I would not try refill on a laser.

Up to you whether to buy a printer just for the 90 day slips.

Don't you need photocopies from time to time? (printer/scanner combination).

Don't you do online bookings etc.? (I always do a print just to be sure)

My budget Brother laser, refill toner at a local shop 400 baht. Works fine.

Don't bother with a combined scanner/printer unless you really need the scanner

Your local computer/print shop is your friend for such limited use
