Hi,

My wife is here in the US with me. Her English got very good before we got married and now that she is in the US and working, her English has gotten really good. Okay, still, work to do, but she works in a Thai restaurant and handles calls for takeout and orders and customers who come in to eat.

Anyway, how much money could she as a bilingual tour guide make in Thailand? Is the money decent? I've heard of tour guides doing okay salary-wise and really doing well with tips. Maybe a small, private company she ran would be better in the long run.

How is your wife in the looks category. Pretty guides do very well............hahaha!

Very true... if she is fat and ugly she will make more money in the States.

She will need a license to operate as a tourguide. They can make good money but it depends on a lot of things, your wife probably has no experience and no network. It might be hard for her to start.

When living in the states with my Thai wife, I had a similar idea with a twist.

Knowing that native Thais know the country, the language and can get much better rates on everything from transportation, to accommodations and just about everything else, my idea was to form a guide company in the states to bring Americans to Thailand and guide them there.

I knew she could plan and organize trips addressing the Americans needs and wants for much less than Americans could do for themselves.

After building a good reputation for saving tourist money and knowing your way around Thailand and the lifestyle here, I think there could be a good profit to be made while still providing a good deal for the tourist.

We moved to Thailand and i have abandoned the idea.
