Letting child (below 14) overstay on tourist visa

Featured Replies

...so I tried to spare some grey hairs and went to immigration without my 10 yo daughter. We're on triple entry tourist visas (first entry). They (Rayong immigration) wouldn't let me extend my daughter's visa for her, so my options are returning to immigration with her, or letting her overstay her first entry. Everyone keeps telling me border officials ignore kids under 14 anyway...

So either

1. Go back to immigration to do her extension

2. Let her overstay and hope they'll let her back in on our next border run (second entry of our 3-entry visas).

...guess I'll end up doing #1 in the end... Just to be safe... But curious if anone has had this experience before and were fine with option #2.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out to get the extension. It is strange to me that they let agents do it but not a parent of 10 year old.

Children under the age of 15 do not pay overstay fines but they do get overstays stamps.

Dependent upon the border crossing you go to you might get an officer that would make a problem or insist the fine has to be paid.

It's is up to you what you want to do. IMO it would be best to get the extension.

Yes... As friendly as the Rayong immigration people are, I can't say I much enjoyed the ride, especially on a Click.

They wouldn't even discuss it, just looked around, "Where daughter?", then "Nononono" shaking heads.
