Can anyone please tell me the procedure to get a non imm B visa in order to obtain a work permit. At present I have an ED visa finishing end of March but want to stop my studies as I have a job offer to start soon.

I think a letter from school saying I have dropped off then to cancel my ED visa ( at Chaengwattana or border crossing not sure) then go to my country to get non imm B with letter of promise of work.

Thank you for any help.

You can get a non-B visa in a neighbouring country, depending on your nationality.

1. apply for a work eprmit with docuemnts from the employer. You will not get a WP itself, but a form and letter confirming you have applied and will get a WP once you have the proper visa.

2. get a letter from your school and cancel your extension based on education at immigration. Cancelling at immirgaiton mmight not be needed if you have the letter from the school and you leave the country the same day your study ends.

3. Leave the country

4. Apply for a non-B visa abroad with papers from the lanour office and company papers.

5. Return to Thailand and get the WP.

You would not have to go to your home country to get the non-b visa unless you are from a country that can only apply for a visa there.

You do not have to cancel you your ED extension of stay in order to apply for a non-b visa because as soon as soon as you leave the country it will be invalid.

You could leave the country and get single entry tourist visa or even a visa exempt entry and then apply for a work permit. Then with a letter of approval for the work permit application from the Labor Ministry you could apply for a single entry non-b visa. Then your work permit would be issued.

That's about what I thought. I will still check a little more as mistakes can cost time and money. Thanks for your help.
