60 day tourist visa extension question

Featured Replies

Hi all,

I Have a visa question - I know it has probably been answered before but please be kind.

I need to extend my 60 day tourist visa. I understand that I can only extend for another 30 days. I am a UK citizen.

Is there a form I need to download before going to immigration? Do I need to dress smart for this occasion? - I am a tourist after all!

How long does it take to be processed? Can I expect to leave with the new stamp the same day?

Thank you!

You can download a form or fill it in at immigration. Do not forget to also bring copies of your passport and arrival card. You will also need a pass photo. The fee is 1,900 baht.

Form: http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/download/tm7.doc

You do not have to go in business clothing, but dress politely.

The extension is given on the spot.

Thank!

Is Cheng Wattana the place to go? I am in BKK.

Also my current visa expires on March 9th. Can I go in before that date and get the extension, or do I have to wait until nearer the time?

You can do any time between now and then. Avoid Monday and Friday due to crowd if possible!

On the form it asks for a reason for the extention.

I am waiting for my Ed visa forms to be ready, but there has been a delay.

Should I note this as the reason, or just put tourism?

Chaeng Wattana immigration office is where you will have to go. Map and info on how to get here is here: http://bangkok.immigration.go.th/en/location1.html

Put tourism on the form.

For a tourist visa you can get a 30 day extension any time. Usually immigartaion likes to do the extension if you have around 30 days left on your original 60 day entry stamp on arrival.

The 30 days will be simply added to the 60 days you got on your entry stamp, so you will not lose any days if you go before your 60 day entry stamp expires. You don't need to wait until your last day ... in fact i wouldn't as you might not be able to do it then, if for some reason you can not do it then.

In Bangkok.Chaeng Wattana is the place to get that extension. it costs 1900 Baht (standard fee).

In Chaeng Wattans, on the 1st floor (Ground Floor) there is a place that will do passport photos and copy all the required pages from your passport.

Therefore you really don't need to bring passport photos or copies of your passport pages if you don't want to ..... the girls in the copy center know exactly what to copy ..... that's how they make their living. just tell them 30 day extension, and they know what you need. You will need your arrival card in your passport, however, that is one of the things they need to copy for immigration.

It costs 100 Baht for 3 passport size photos and 2 Baht for each page copied from your passpost .... well worth the minimal cost.

Immigration keep your arrival card on arrival - I have my departure card. Will that suffice?

The departure portion of the arrival card is what they want a copy of.

Thanks for that.

I have a flight out of Thailand in July. I presume they wont ask about onward travel?

Last time I did this is was fairly straight forward. That was a long time ago now!

They do not ask about onward travel.

With a visa proof of onward travel is not required anyway.
