PATTAYA: -- On Wednesday Morning the Chonburi Provincial Police Commander announced the arrest of a 19 year old man who is suspected of causing the death of his 2 year old Step-Son.

Khun Kajonsuk was arrested at an apartment in Sriracha District and is accused of causing the death of the 2 year old boy after he was earlier struck multiple times in his chest and back as he would not stop crying, as stated by the suspect.

He is in a relationship with the 16 year old Mother of the child and Hospital records indicated the child had been taken for treatment on many occasions, suffering from cuts and bruises. There was never any follow-up by Welfare Officers despite reports indicating the injuries were caused by a third-party.

On 19th February, Khun Kajonsuk confessed to striking the child many times as he would not stop crying. The child stopped and the suspect and the young mother decided to leave their home for a period of 3 hours and left their child unattended.

He'll be in the news again within 10 years. Sentenced to 30 years and let out after 5 for whatever, then either shooting another motorist in the head for cutting in front of him or hacking a woman to death because she refused him.

Just me crystal ball.

So the mother was just 14 when she had the baby? Goes to show the abysmal lack of child welfare services in this Country. Immature parents and obvious sign of maltreatment on more than one occasion should have had red flags flying and warning bells ringing right from the start.

You have similar cases in the western world as well - child welfare and doctors turning a blind eye... It's sickening :(

"There was never any follow-up by Welfare Officers despite reports indicating the injuries were caused by a third-party."

Just what exactly, do "Welfare Officers" do in Thailand?

They are complicit as far as I am concerned.

"the suspect and the young mother decided to leave their home for a period of 3 hours and left their child unattended."

He beat the crap out of a 2 year old and then both of them abandoned it.

What are the charges against the mother?

Some where the system broke down, was there dereliction of duty, surely if welfare workers had done their job this child would still be alive today, may be the should be others on trial for this child's death by dereliction of duty.

Some (not all, and that was said for the benefit of the moderator) Thai males learn to address any challenge with violence. I have seen Thai males abuse wifes, children, dogs, etc. It is sickening! Some Thai males, especially those under the age of 18, need to be exposed to a mandatory class on "How To Behave Like A Man." Far too many young men seem utterly clueless about what it means to be a man and the responsibility that entails in terms of behavior towards others, especially children (and even babies).

Get real, this is a third world country contrary to what you may believe, life here is very cheap,

Social welfare ? What the hell is that ? The only God is money, the only thing people care about is money, the poor in hospital are of no concern.
