Cheapest Way To Transfer Money To The Uk

Featured Replies

I was looking into bank charges and money transfer charges, and wondered if anyone could shed any light on what would actually be the cheapest way of moving cash money from Thailand to a UK account.

Thanks.

It depends on

1. the amount being transferred

2. the fees being charged by your Thai and UK banks

Ask your bank. Generally, for a transfer of more than a few pounds, I would use a SWIFT transfer (by Thai banks often called T/T)

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

If you've got a work permit then internet banking is the way to go. You can transfer money overseas for "family support". What the limit is I don't know but for each time I send money to my Mum I'm charged just 300 Baht.

I have never sent more than a few hundred quid but I did once by accident type out 10,000 pounds to be sent and the summary page still quoted a price of 300 Baht charge.

Sadly the transfer didn't go through as I didn't have the ten grand!!!
