Cambodian gang pays 'yaba' for stolen bikes
The Sunday Nation

BANGKOK: -- Rangers Company 1205 in Sa Kaew province revealed a criminal trend in which a thief directly exchanged a stolen motorcycle for 'yaba' pills from a dealer.

It was reported that 150 'yaba' pills would be paid for a brand new motorbike, 100 pills for those in 80-90 per cent good condition, and those in lesser condition would earn 50 pills, rangers company chief Major Thammasak Thuaythong said.

A Cambodian gang that buys stolen vehicles asked a drug ring to pay suppliers in 'yaba' or methamphetamine pills, and the gang would repay the drug ring with cash after selling the vehicles.

The comment was made after an operation yesterday morning by rangers and police to arrest Cambodian motorcycle thieves on the way to trade with a dealer in Tambon Pa Rai in Aranyaprathet, in Sa Kaew. The team retrieved a stolen Honda motorcycle but the suspects fled into Cambodia.
