Yes I know these forums(fora) are about Thailand..but since everyone where I live speaks Lao and Vietnamese..I wonder..can any TV member point me to a site that is 'abreast' ho! ho! of what is going on in Laos? I know the Chinese are buying the North and I know Singapore is investing heavily in Coffee in the Boloven region..but I saw 3 yes 3 brand new lao plated Evoque Range Rovers in the Lotus car park yesterday. I mean they are at least $50,000 ie 1.5 millionB and a lot more in the UK. One can only suppose the source of such money is "substances" or land. Buying Mobiles here to export seems big business, clothes also. One guy was filling his trunk with watermelons and vegetables. I only got a grin in answer to the question: Why he had to come to Thailand to buy such things?. Did they not have them in in Laos?

Maybe the cars are cheaper in Laos?

drive the produce over the friendship bridge and its worth a hefty premium. that why they can afford new cars.

You may find more info in the South East Asia forum

Cheapest evoque costs 3.5 mb without any option.

A good one is 5mb....

Have you ever heard of Long Tieng in the north, and what went on there during the Vietnam War?

Laos has always been a place where some people have been able to make a lot of money very quickly.

Plus ca change...
