Three arrested in Phuket in anti-drug and crime campaign

A total of four bullets, 10.5 kilos of kratom leaves and 15 bottles of cough syrup were seized in an anti drug and crime campaign in Patong leading to three arrests.

PHUKET: -- Three men were arrested yesterday (March 2) after being found in possession of a total of four bullets, 10.5 kilos of kratom leaves and 15 bottles of cough syrup after police carried out an anti drug and crime campaign.

At 8:20pm, Kathu police led by Lt Col Suthichai Tienpo arrested Tip Soukthavixay, 34, from Laos, at the Kalamong noodle shop on Prabaramee Rd in Patong.

Police seized from Tip three bags of kratom leaves weighing a total of 10 kilograms and 15 bottles of cough syrup from Tip.

Tip was taken to Kathu police station and now faces being charged with possession of a Category 5 drug with intent to sell and illegal possession of modern medicine with intent to sell.

Also in Patong, Police nabbed two men who were found in possession of gun bulletts. Khawn Kapbaosri, 27, was caught with two .38 bullets in Soi Bangwat and Jirachai Sarnin, 23, was found with two .357 bullets on 50 Year Rd.

Both men were taken to Kathu police station and were charged with possession of ammunitions without a permit.

Wow! Eight plain clothed cops to bring in two guys with two bullets each and an old guy with some Katrom and cough syrup. Now there's some amazing utilization of police resources in the Kathu District…

Gosh......still got a bullet in my draw, from when I was in the army.........about 49 years ago......

Meanwhile in Bangkok we see the continual bust of the same gambling dens, the exoneration of the police "commissioners" no finger pointing, no arrests and return to full duty. Yah, Thailand you are on the right course.

Three more hardened criminals off the street, and there is going to be some desperate cough syrup addicts out there, now that the kingpins are banged up.

Ludicrous waste of time and resources.
