NGV bus bid draws little interest from private sector

BANGKOK: -- The bus procurement scheme of Bangkok Mass Transit Authority (BMTA) for the first lot of 489 NGV-fuelled buses through bidding drew little interest from bidders with only two bus firms submitting their documents yesterday.

Rush for ivory registration before deadline expires

SURIN: -- Ivory owners and merchants in Surin province yesterday flocked to have their products registered following the passing of the new law on ivory trade, and tough enforcement of the law by authorities who are getting serious in the attempts to stem illegal ivory trade in the country.

If MH370 not found by end of May, new look at data

KUALA LUMPUR, Malaysia (AP) — Malaysia's transport minister says if Malaysia Airlines Flight 370 is not found by the end of May, the three countries leading the search in the southern Indian Ocean will re-examine data and come up with a new plan.

NRC holds public hearing on national reform in Surin

SURIN, 7 Mar 2015, (NNT) - The National Reform Council (NRC) and King Prajadhipok's Institute is today holding a public forum on national reform, in the northeastern Province of Surin.

The organizers said the event is to give the people a chance to voice their opinions about the draft charter, creating a sense of contributing to the process, and directly exchanging ideas with members of the NRC and the Constitution Drafting Committee.

The hearing started at 1PM today, when a speech about seeking national reform through public participation, was followed by a session of discussions. More than 300 participants from seven provinces in the Northeastern Region were expected to join today’s hearing.

Local business man shot in Bophut Fisherman’s village

KOH SAMUI: -- A local businessman was shot in a restaurant in the Bophut Fisherman’s village on Friday 6th of March. The man, who it has been reported was influential in the area, was having dinner with work associates when two men opened fire on him. The incident took place at around 7-30pm.

MFA and British Embassy hold exhibition celebrating 5 centuries of Thailand-UK relation

BANGKOK, 7 March 2015 (NNT) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) has joined hands with the British Embassy in Bangkok to hold the ‘Forward into the 5th Century of Thailand-UK Relation’ exhibition at Central Embassy shopping center in Bangkok starting from today.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the British Embassy in Bangkok, the UK Trade & Investment, British Council, and Central Embassy shopping center have organised the ‘Forward into the 5th Century of Thailand-UK Relation’ exhibition at Central Embassy to commemorate the 402 years of relations between Thailand and the UK.

The exhibition has been officiated by HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn today at 2pm.

The exhibition aims to raise the awareness among the Thai public on the positive relations, as well as close cooperation in all aspects between Thailand and the UK.

DITP signs MoU with HK to boost online trading

BANGKOK, 7 March 2015 (NNT) – The Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP), Commerce Ministry, has signed MoU with Hong Kong Trade Development Council (HKTDC) for enhancing bilateral trade and investment, revealed DITP director-general Nuntawan Sakuntanaga.
