Interior Ministry takes serious action against forest encroachment

BANGKOK, 11 March 2015 (NNT)-The Ministry of Interior has instructed every provincial authority to enforce the law in order to prevent all types of forest encroachment.

According to Permanent Secretary to the Ministry of Interior Wiboon Sanguanpong, a sheriff or a provincial governor, depending on the circumstance, will be assigned to head an investigation unit in the case of illegal encroachment.

The move is in line with the National Anti-Corruption Commission's plan to promote greater participation by government officials in legal cases, particularly, those involving illegal logging of rosewood.

Provincial authorities have been ordered to be responsible for the cases. They have also been urged to follow deforestation prevention protocol and coordinate greater regional efforts in order to protect the country's natural resources and prevent future encroachment.

Serious action? What's that? Two slaps on the wrist instead of the one?

Periodically instructing officials to enforce the law is about as serious as action gets around here.

Shame they don't take 'serious action' against forest burners !

Why do you think they burn the forest maybe it helps to encroach on it.

After centuries of encroaching..........now serious action is taken. A little late, isn't it.

You will have to complain to previous governments about that one.

But then its being shown that some of them are actually involved in the encroachment, so that could be why they weren't interested in doing something about it.

Once the initial post is made we have 10 subsequent posts.

Each and every one is cynically negative, even for the TV "Nay Brigade" that must be a bit of a record?

"Provincial authorities have been ordered to be responsible for the cases. They have also been urged to follow deforestation prevention protocol and coordinate greater regional efforts in order to protect the country's natural resources and prevent future encroachment."
