Some details I pulled from Thai news sites.

  1. The land fill was for leaves and wood chips removed from across the university properties
  2. Approximately 2 acres
  3. Focus to keep it from reaching the Chiang Mai zoo. Preparations were made to evacuate the animals if necessary
  4. Some power lines burned causing power failures in some areas
  5. University staff and students came to assist putting it out
  6. 10 firefighting vehicles at the scene
  7. Troops from the 32nd battalion were called in to assist
  8. Cause of fire currently unknown
  9. About 5 hours to contain it

Not too bad....wood and leaves. Now, if it were to contain regular thrash with the mix of plastics pvc and batteries and whatnots, i am sure some folks would need to be hospitalised due to toxicity of this + on-going heavy Chiang Mai haze.
