BANGKOK: -- The subcommittee of the Civil Service Commission has resolved to dismiss two senior commerce officials involved with the fake G2G rice sale with China with reason it caused severest damages to the country.

It also resolved to halt pension payment not to a retired senior commerce official who helped to facilitate the fake deal.

Minister of Commerce General Chatchai Sarikalya revealed that the subcommittee of the Civil Service Commission has approved during its meeting earlier today, the immediate firing of two commerce officials, Tikhamporn Nataworntat, deputy director-general of the Internal Trade Department and Akkarapong Teepwatchara, former director-general of the Foreign Rice Trade Office, for the serious offences.

He said at the same time the subcommittee also resolved to stop paying pension indefinitely to the former director-general of the Department of Foreign Trade, Manas Soiploy, for the same serious offences.

According to minister, the three persons were allegedly involved in assisting the unauthorized Chinese private sector in getting the G2G rice deal through fraudulent channel.

The move has caused tremendous damages to the country.

The minister said the three persons could appeal for their case within 30 days.

Their cases would be later forwarded to the Civil and Criminal courts accordingly.

The ministry would also file damage suit to demand compensation from them for the huge loss, he added.

BANGKOK: -- The National Anti-Corruption Commission (NACC) on Monday delivered the case files on fake government-to-government rice deals implicating former commerce minister Boonsong Teriyaphirom and 20 other associates to the Office of Attorney-General for consideration.

NACC assistant secretary-general Sakchai Methineephisarnkul said that the case files are made up of altogether 204,000 pages of documents contained in 59 crates which was handed over to Mr Wanchai Rujanawong, spokesman of the OAG and director of Public Prosecution Department, and Mr Chutichai Sakhakorn, director-general of the Office of Special Cases.

They are now sweeping up the crumbs and disposing of them.

Interesting that there is no further details on the Chinese side of the conspiracy. There is no mention of any evidence provided by the Chinese government or even indication of a Chinese investigation. How exactly can an "unauthorized Chinese private sector" exist without approval of the Chinese government in an alleged public government-to-government transaction?

I suspect the guilty may have some yet undiclosed insider information concerning higher government officials in both governments that could be used to barter lessor penalties.

One price for governments and another for everyone else? It's like the ultimate dual price philosophy --

If it would have been okay to sell to the Chinese government at the price paid, how does it cause "tremendous damages"? The current regime just made a G2G deal with China. How is that different, especially since the recent deal was at a lower price per tonne than when the shady deal was made.

Seems you don't know much about the scheme and you still complain about the junta. They were allowed to sell below cost price to other governments but not to private sectors. So what they did here in this scam cutesy of YL and the PTP sell it to fake government for lower price and then sell it back into the system at the higher price.. katching.. instant cash.

So yes there is extra damage..(as the sold rice entered the system at inflated price 2x) I wonder what excuse you will try to come up with now.

Perhaps the PT supporters who don't really know what anything about this should start at the beginning and read the original report of the Democrats evidence they presented at the no confidence debate in 2012, then do some research to follow on from there.

Taking this into account, the men in question would make a profit of Bt20 billion. Also, he said, the rice has not gone anywhere but is being stored in Siam President's warehouse in Phichit, he said. There are some 400,000 sacks of rice in the facility, collected between May 5 and July 16, he added.

So as you see from that small snip this is about large corruption and now questions are being asked where that money went. Oh yes and the rice also.

By the way there was one genuine G2G deal with China for a million tons, however only 300,000 tons was ever delivered and now I see in the BKK Post that the Chinese Govt is asking for the rest.

The agency noted the deal never happened and the rice was sold locally.
