bob4you Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 I have not been able to find corned beef to at market to make my own, if you know where I can get that, that is my choice, but baring that a restaurant serving it will do.
Popular Post MrWorldwide Posted March 15, 2015 Popular Post Posted March 15, 2015 Corned beef and cabbage ? I'll bet you like it with the white sauce and the little carrots, right ? No idea where you get it locally, but you've got me drooling as I consider the relatively staid offerings at my disposal this evening. Mum used to make it with the carrots, peas and mashed spuds, but cabbage or brussels sprouts done right would work for me too. Christ, forget St Pats - I could tear into this right now ! Saints preserve us - that's a meal fit for a king. 3
sirineou Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 No time to make your own, by St Patty's day as it takes about 10 days in brine, (Google how to male corned beef, easy enough to make,) but good for any day of the year, I love it plain with mustard a of course the cabbage which I love but does not love me. Sorry cant help, as to where to buy it in Thailand 1
JohnC Posted March 15, 2015 Posted March 15, 2015 Western Wholesale Meats on Chaipruk2 sells corned beef American style. 2
Mojomor Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Corned beef with cabbage is an Irish American thing. The Irish would use a large boiled bacon portion. You can use kale instead of cabbage. Basically a green vegetable. Some people use parsley sauce. Mash can vary depending on the region of Ireland. Colcannon, champ and boxty all have their fans. 1
emilymat Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 It is sold in the 'farang' shops. There is one behind Big C Extra and one near me on Siam CC Road who sell 'Fray Bentos". There must be several other farang or expats shops.
MrWorldwide Posted March 16, 2015 Posted March 16, 2015 Still drooling. Gotta stop coming back to this thread
