Police in Nong Khai province comparing the two passports at a press conference on 16 March 2015.

NONG KHAI — An Iranian man was arrested at the Thai-Laotian border today for allegedly attempting to cross into Thailand with a fake passport.

The 29-year-old man, identified as Alireza Motevalli, arrived at the border check point this morning with what appeared to be a British passport, said Pol.Col. Pallop Suriyakul na Aytthaya, commander of immigration police in Nong Khai province.

However, when an immigration police officer entered the passport number into the computer, it was revealed to belong to a British woman who reported losing her passport in Bangkok last September, said Pol.Col. Pallop.

Police then searched Motevalli’s bag and found his Iranian passport.

According to Pol.Col. Pallop, Motevalli confessed to entering Thailand last month on a tourist visa and hiring someone to procure a fake passport for him.

There were also 2 Iranians of military ages who used stolen passports on the I'll fated Malaysian airlines Rhat has still never been located.

Why is this pertinent? Because there's an insurgency down in the South and Iran has been a state sponsor of terrorism for decades, always keep an open mind with Iranians and stolen passports!!!

Iranians use most of the time a fake passport to travel to Europe. Most of the Iranians travel on a fake passport have nothing to do with the Iranian regime. MAy be you shoukd ask Uncle Sam why MH 370 has never been found yet. Don't blame it on the Iranian.

State terrorism goes both ways. I remember the Israeli that were arrested in New Zealand a few years ago too.

Let me guess you come from Uncle Sam country. Don't look to much Fox News.

Have another guess, as you're wrong, not American and Mossad assassinated a Hezbollah leader in the UAE on stolen identities ?.

Now I never blamed the Iranians for the loss of MH370 I merely pointed out that 2 Iranians using stolen passports were onboard, but a very slight coincidence when you have the Deep South Insurgency ongoing and then the passports used in Phuket to obtain the tickets.

Maybe nothing but random coincidence and then again, who knows, I could speculate a lot more, but I'd be wasting my time really ?

Fair enough that was suss but let us not forget that it was the US that overthrew the democratically elected government in Iran in the 50s and installed their puppet the Shar and his secret police.

How would Iran's history have changed if the US hadn't overthrown yet another democratically elected regime?

Hard to figure out their love of democracy when they keep overthrowing fairly elected governments they don't like.

The natives of America had warned us long ago, "White men speak with fork tongues".

It's a bit naive and lack of knowledge / informtion to compare iranian individuals with terrorists . People like this are always trying to run away from terrorism and problems that come with it , they are just looking for freedom . Don't confuse people with their governments .. So easy to point fingers !

I'd be cautious if I were you about recommending that the Thai authorities start torturing on the basis of prejudice and stereotypes.

The natives of America had warned us long ago, "White men speak with fork tongues".

They were, of course, talking about the British colonists.

America as we know it started out as a British colony which at that time was England and Scotland.

Look like things may have tightened up a wee notch or two, since the 2 stolen tourist passports (one was a young Italian fellow) from Phuket were used by alleged terrorists ( DUH..) to board the ill-fated Malaysian airliner.. Didn't know British colonists were still ruling during the times of Sitting Bull and Custer.

I'm sure I'll regret asking, but is there a conspiracy theory blaming the US for the disappearance of MH 370? On second thought, never mind, I'm sure there is.

Mate I'm talking about present day, not over 60 years back, the al Quds Force operates globally and have been found as far afield as Venezuela, they work closely with Hezbollah and Hamas amongst other Shia terror factions.

Both of these have also been active in UAE and Mossad has targeted them with succes there.

I wish you'd stop the anti American crap, as this hasn't got anything to do with them or foreign policies, Iran is a problem for their neighbours too. I'm sure you also know they're frequently denying the holocaust too ?

You qualify for a job as political analyst at Fox TV no problem. Lol

What was the reason for the US involvement in Iran in the 50s and was it what the people wanted.

You really have to be on the ball with these people , OZ are stopping 400 a day for further investigations with one thing or another and OZ has less than a quarter of the population of Thailand. with far less visitors than Thai if you can believe TAT coffee1.gif

This is how they test the system, this test failed. now they need to find another way to move from country to country. He will only be charged with having a fake passport.

I wonder how many countries do not do the proper paper work when a passport is lost or stolen ?

Thai Muslim population of Thailand is 99% Sunni, when has Iran has ever been a state sponsor of Sunni insurgency movements or any linkage been proposed between Iran and the conflict in the deep South?
