meemiathai
everyone is too polite to state the truth.your average thai is not very smart. you have pretend you are negotiating with a 4 year old. so be very patient and go very very slowly. the average IQ of a thai student (western academic test) is 81. that is 1 point into average (80-100) logical thinking is rare. many of the abilities you expect in a western country are present in thai people, e.g. reading a map, saying "i don't know'., knowing alternatives to simple requests. reward for effort. doing anything business related is very difficult. cause you are not really wanted. Is that why you came to thailand? You call yourself what we romantic males in developed western countries???And you want to meet thai girls like gracelessfawn?? TIT..... This is Thailand TIY...... This is You. Unfortunately..... no matter how much banging your head on the wall you do.... it won't make a difference.... It's you that needs to change..... not change totally, just adapt and then accept things you don't like with a smile. Self edit..... can I just ask one question please. the average IQ of a thai student (western academic test) is 81. What was your last score?.... any IQ test is mainly based on the ability to 'problem solve' ...... it's fairly western in it's outlook and concept and has little relevance to the capability of rational thought when faced with a culture that is diametrically different to the one that is setting the questions. A typical IQ test involves number sequences, pattern sequences and ..... logic sequences .... and .....what's the other one.... word sequences. QED Have you seen a Thai IQ test? terry57
"hello , my name is Somsak" I love it. Did you make that up? no, that was real and 25 points to you bkk, as that was certainly a top thai saying. my thai staff used to say this to me at times, and it was always issued with a smile. because i expect things to be done tomorow in los, i always stayed real cool on the outside, although on the inside, i was having a mini heart attack. any way, once i give over to the staff all was good. " jai yen " most probly the wrong spelling, = " cool heart " they used to tell me. any way, all you thai speakers get the drift i imagine ? cheers friends

terry57
thanks for all the good ( and bad) tips ;-) This is not the first startup form scratch for me , and everytime there there are different problems. So far I found language ( and the confusing spelling and translation ) is a bigger problem here than it was in Singapore,Chzech republic, or even indonesia . I am sure I'll find my way around and I will not give up so quickly . Sometimes it is just good to share the frustration. I have some thai help from next month onwards, and so far , everything runs still as planned , more or less. ok then bkk, its sweet then, as we have helped you with your quandary. well done to us punters. one other thing fella , dont forget to have a " jai yen " cheers terry57-Get on down to Pantip Plaza and buy a new keyboard with an Enter key that doesn't double space and a working Shift key. I reckon you can find one for about 100 Baht. your a bleeding genious my fine friend. as in all my years of coming to los, i aint never been to pantip. i got the inside information on a 55 baht taxi trip from cow sand road. any way, everybody on this forum knows that im coming back to los in november. first thing im doing is bolting down to pantip. i am sorry my friend, but my key board works lovely thank you. the reason i double space is so the punters get a good look at what i have actually written. there's some people on this forum that have poor eye sight and misinterprate the punters posts. unsure: any way fella, its all good as they say cheers

Why are you here? I can not imagine what you do here or how long you have been in Thailand or where you hang out to formulate your assumptions. You come across as a polite, well educated, responsible person who can read maps and tell the time. You obviously are hard working and successful. Why waste your time in Thailand, you're obviously a much better breed.
