Finder type app to see iPhone files

Featured Replies

Anyone recommend an app which will allow me to view the internal file system of my iPhone 6 when I plug it into my MacBook?

I've had a go with ifunbox but it seems to depend on the phone being jailbroken to see everything and I'm not going down that road. It will allow me to see and copy photos but not other files.

Any ideas?

The world according to apple:

About the iOS File System
The iOS file system is geared toward apps running on their own. To keep the system simple, users of iOS devices do not have direct access to the file system and apps are expected to follow this convention.
Every App Is an Island
An iOS app’s interactions with the file system are limited mostly to the directories inside the app’s sandbox. During installation of a new app, the installer creates a number of containers for the app. Each container has a specific role. The bundle container holds the app’s bundle, whereas the data container holds data for both the application and the user. The data container is further divided into a number of directories that the app can use to sort and organize its data. The app may also request access to additional containers—for example, the iCloud container—at runtime.
This 'isolation' of an iOS app seeing only its own locally stored data (sandboxed) prevents someone writing apps that look at data stored by other apps.
While you can download an app that can itself upload/store/view/download many types of data, that app can't see data stored by other apps.
Accessing your iOS device as a USB Storage usually only give you access to the Camera Roll.
Jailbreaking your iOS device is the only way to break the sandbox restriction and view all the contents as the super user.
