Popular Post Costas2008
Why should I leave Thailand? I love Songkhran. At least I get a good car wash and they also put some baby powder on the car to protect it from the sun Edited March 19, 2015 by Costas2008
siampolee
Love it a time of no responsibility .Mind you that is away from the somewhat moronic element one finds in central Bangkok, Here in the suburbs and also at our home in Surin Songkran is a pleasurable time with lots of fun and a great party atmosphere,. All rather like the college rags of my youth.

Popular Post pgrahmm
We'll be in full Songkhran mode at the CM moat Thaipai gate area for 3 days....I'll have 2 big guns going with - what they call a cowboy hat on which has made me a popular remembered target the few years....backed by my posse - wife with matching hat - always a popular target .... with 14 year old daughter - who has REALLY became a popular target the last couple of years (now there's two to watch out for) + plus the 6 year old that fears nothing or nobody or any situation and for her the whole on CM is her target...great fun....
sipi
Australia. The last 2 years in Thailand for Songkran, the heat nearly killed me and the toddler. See you when it cools off a tad.

My thought's too Soutie, too hot here in Petchabun,at least cooler in Koh Chang,on the beach, and i know some nice little out of the way spots there, all my wife's extended family will be up here, and rigging up speakers opposite at the shop that would put an ac/dc concert to shame, thought about going to Malaysia, but a lot more expense and mucking around,Koh Chang around 32c,Kok prong around 40c,i think it will be Koh Chang. arunsakda
Skipping this year. Arranged work schedule overseas to avoid it. Have things that must be done and can't afford what is basically a whole week wasted in Chiang Mai to the ldrunken revelry and excess. It is a great holiday but a little out of control. My condolences in advance to the hundreds that will die pointlessly in the roads of Chiang Mai province. Briggsy
Leaving as I have done for every one since 2003 except one when I stayed in. I have explained my reasons on many threads. Tired of being flamed so I won't go into it again.
lust
Songkran is just too busy for me to enjoy. Khao San, Silom, etc. Everywhere smells more pissy than normal since everyone just pisses there pants. Went to RVA and it took me an hour to get from one side of the club to the other side while getting blasted in the ears and eyes by glacier super soaker 5000's. Imagine if there was a need to evacuate in a hurry. People would be trampled to death. I'm going to the beach!
Suradit69
Staying........ Safely behind the locked gate of my house. Yes. Just stock up on the needful to last for a few days. There's plenty of things that need to be done around the home. If I have to go out it's by car. It stays dry inside and the nut jobs keep their distance from any place I would want to go. Indoor parking or controlled parking lots. If you stay here 365 days a year, surely you can find things to do at home for a few days.

Emster23
I live in Jomtien. Festivities not so bad in Bangkok when I lived there, but here is more of a sadistic moron fest. Flame me all you want. I'm going back to home country.
bkkjames
Staying, best time to be in Bangkok, relatively easy to drive with half the city gone. Only downside is the poor me attitudes left behind by staff in shops that didn't get to go home this year
carib102
We're off to Japan as the missus wants to see the cherry blossoms. And we'll take the little one to the Gibhli museum and possibly Disneyland Tokyo. Not that we don't like Songkhran mind you, just not in the mood for it this year. Geordie59
I made a promise to myself to never again stay in Pattaya for Songkran after the 9 day farce last year. I guess it might be OK in Koh Mak or similar places.I'm off to Canbodia or The Philippines.

craigt3365
I'll be in the middle of it again this year. Only one day, finish before dark, and it's great fun as it will be with a large group of friends at a condo right in the middle of everything. The days leading up to it are easy here in NaJomtien. You'd hardly even know it's Songkran.

Popular Post Yann55
Going to Nepal from 13 to 20 April. Nepal, a country where the word culture means culture, not just good food, nice beaches, fake commercial smiles and gogo bars. If you see what I mean. I remember Songkran in Khon Kaen 30 years ago... what a wonderful memory. Genuinely nice people were walking around carrying bowls of water with flower petals in them, delicately springkling passers-by with a blessing and a sincere smile. Songkran in Thailand today is just like Christmas in the West. A pathetic disgrace and an insult to the genuine - and beautiful - traditions they are supposed to represent.
