  • Just do as Thailand does and impose extraordinary import duties, Prayuth might throw a world class hissie fit but bugger him if his plans are to destroy the lively hoods of his poor neighbours. Who do

  • Folks, do not mess with this man, he is pure..........

  • "Prayut also floated the idea of Thai manufacturers venturing into neighbouring countries with products of daily necessity that cost less but are of the same quality as similar items made locally. "

I use Darlie (Darkie) toothpaste and it's fine. Direct your humour at the PM not at the toothpaste!

"Prayut also floated the idea of Thai manufacturers venturing into neighbouring countries with products of daily necessity that cost less but are of the same quality as similar items made locally. "

Neighbouring countries might not be too happy about that.

It all boils down to wages paid to make said product. Wages in adjoining countries are all lower than here that is why workers flock here to work and send money home. Then there are tariffs to overcome and without the middleman a hard sell.

and what about the transportation costs for these lowly farmers and SMEs selling their products at reduced costs. Economic savvy , this guy has none , Basic economics and not a clue .

Thai manufacturers already have the highest cost of any of their neighbors. So, how does the PM propose that they sell Thai products for less money. The idea does not engender warm and fuzzy feelings about ASEAN cooperation.
