I own a 2011 Mazda 2 I bought new. It looks new with only 16k Kilometers. I last had it serviced a year ago at the end of the warranty period. I believe all they did was change the oil. I live in a beach town and love driving my PCX. My wife learned to drive and takes it out for a spin occasionally. Otherwise, we just go to town couple of times a month. I checked the dipstick and the oil looks new. How do you service a vehicle you barely use and keep it in great shape?

I have a 2011 Fiesta with not many more kilometers. I just get it serviced per the time intervals listed on the Ford site rather than by kilometers driven. It means some parts might be replaced ahead of time but I'd rather someone checked the car every nine months or so than to wait two years to get to the listed amount of kilometers.

My last Mazda service tied me up for the day, for basically an oil change. I'm reluctant to ever go back unless I have to.

OMG A Mazda dealer with worse service than Ford, it cannot be possible. smile.png

My Ford service has been 1-3 hours depending on the time of day and how busy they were.

One other thing to keep an eye on might be tyres. Low mileage but this hot climate can be tough on tyres, especially if your car is parked in the sun a lot. We still have sufficient tread on ours but will replace them this year as a precaution.

The tires look new! It's parked underneath the house out of the sun. It's one of those used cars where the granny just drove it to church on Sundays.

I figure at this rate the car could last...long after I'm gone.

Change the oil/filter once a year, if it needs it or not. rolleyes.gif

6 months is better. Moisture collects in the oil on short trips and that is the major detriment.

Only take it to Mazda when the km match the Service book if you want the Service stamp...

Many car part shops about, go and buy the oil yourself, then take it to a small workshop, they always change mine while i wait [maybe 15 mins] and cost 100 baht.. change every 6 months, and so far in the car, have done 24,xxx km since July 2008 !!

Once a year seems to be okay. But you should drive the car from time to time that the engine gets hot, the brake discs want to be used as well.

The battery wants to be charged and so on.............

Why do't you sell it and buy something that suits you better? .

It suits me fine. It may get used more often now that the rainy season is coming.

Thanks.
