Does every family member need to apply for visa in person in Hanoi/HCMC

Featured Replies

My family and I are in BKK on tourist visas and will need to make a visa run. We're planning a trip to Vietnam for beginning of April and I'm looking to apply for tourist visas (ideally double entry) in either Hanoi or HCMC. I was hoping that someone may help me with the following questions:

1. Do all family members need to apply for the visas in person? After enduring the visa extension process at BKK Gov't Center, the prospect of entertaining my 6 and 3 yr-olds for hours in/around the embassy/consulate is not enticing.

2. What is the turnaround time for a tourist visa? Any chance of getting same-day service in either location?

3. Any other suggestons for staying in Thailand until end of July with the bare minimun of the children's in-person visits to gov't offices?

Thanks for all your assistance!

Wes

1. I think you should be able to apply for your children s tourist visa without them being present. It would be best to contact them first to confirm.

2. It is next day service. Same day service is not possible.

Just closing the loop fro my OP. I ended up using the Hanoi embassy.

1. Family members did NOT need to be physically present for Visa applications

2. Next day service only

Other tips:

- The Hanoi embassy moved as of April 2015:

26 Phan Bội Châu
Trần Hưng Đạo
Hoàn Kiếm
Hà Nội, Vietnam
- Embassy would have provided at least double entry tourist visas if I had evidence of travel arrangements in/out of LOS.
