March 26, 201511 yr just been a month with Sygic and Google Map on my Samsung, still comparing them with Garmin. my first impressions are : Sygic, a lot of features, even too much details while driving. routings ( in Bangkok ) are very different from other GPS systems. I have 100+ favourites but no folder organisation. Google Map, still a beta. good desktop and GPS app integration. maps are very updated and information is almost realtime ( including major road construction ). routes are very local, including interesting sub-soi. Garmin, even on a 6-years old device, very fast response. maps are very detailed but not always updated as Google Map. good management on routes, favourites and waypoints. Sygic and Google Map are always handy in your pocket, yet kills battery life; Garmin is a separated device, and clumsy leave it on dashboard. what do you think ?
March 28, 201511 yr I've got Sygic, TomTom and Garmin on my iPad and iPhone The hands down winner for me is Sygic in the iPad, though sometimes having 2 different apps open on 2 devices is useful. Edited March 28, 201511 yr by sometimewoodworker
April 8, 201511 yr Since my Garmin Zumo died, I'm using Sygic on iPhone. It doesn't need internet connection. I enter new destinations only by coordinates. Address system is useless in Thailand. Around Bangkok it works very well.

April 9, 201511 yr On the Sygic would somebody please give me a step by step method on how to set a new journey and how to store this journey in favourites and also how to get to favourites I have been used to garmin and finding this sygic a bit confusing I have iPhone AFIK you can't store journeys in favourites, only locations. Step 1 find the location Step 2 click and hold till you get a black box with the location Step 3 click the box, scroll down and click Add to favourites To use a favourite click the hamburger menu (bottom right), select "navigate to" scroll down to "favourites " select one, select "drive to"
April 10, 201511 yr The above post looks like an older Sygic version. On more recent version (I only have 14.7) one simply clicks on the map to save a favorite points using the star icon. Any existing favorite points are listed under top right bookmark type icon. Once you have a route picked - you can click on it and save that as well using the star icon.

June 9, 201511 yr Google map is difficult to use due th bright white background, grey streets and tiny text and locating some large stored off of the street and the BTS and MTS station names are in English, Google public transportation is good to use most places. They miss many private bus companies and vans on inter city routes. My old Garmin is great for getting around even for very small streets and alleys. It is easy to see the route and accurate when you turn a corner. I've used on my motorbike and bicycle to return home.
