DSI: Phra Dhammachayo must report himself to prove his innocence

BANGKOK: -- Wat Dhammakaya’s abbot Phra Dhammachayo must personally report himself to the Department of Special Investigation to be questioned by officials regarding the donations in the form of 15 cheques given to the abbot and the temple by the former chairman of Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative.

Pol Maj Woranan Srilum, spokesman of the DSI and chief of the Special Cases Centre, said Friday that Phra Dhammachayo’s appearance at the DSI would help convince the public that he is innocent.

The temple’s abbot did not show up on Thursday but assigned his lawyer and Phra Maha Boonchai Charutatto, the financial director of Wat Dhammakaya, to see DSI officials.

Phra Maha Boonchai claimed that only 13 and not 15 cheques had been received from Mr Supachai Srisupa-aksorn, former chairman of Klongchan Credit Union, and that Phra Dhammachaya had never touched any of the received cheques.

But Phra Maha Boonchai was told by DSI officials to recheck the number of cheques actually received from Mr Supachai.

It was reported that Justice Minister Paiboon Kumchaya had wanted the Klongchan case to be resolved quickly so that it would be used as a model for case study in the future.

But but but he's sooooooo ill.

But but but he's sooooooo ill.

Yes, he is suddenly suffering from amnesia and he thinks he has the divine protection from these earthlinks.

About time all these "Saints" face the law.

The next move by his team.. HIS... is sick today, and cannot show up....

Very sad, that it takes someone like this to create a negative image for those who actually, do the task and live the: think, speak, do .. good..

Talk to my lawyer.... Interesting that the lawyer is in fact a monk too. No doubt a full time employee then and all of them hiding behind the veil of orange robes.

I just feel sad for the gullible followers blindly soaking all the bs up and handing over money they can likely ill afford in the hope of a better next life....Dont forget these followers are the ones paying back the money in installments from expected donations. The orange theives will not be giving a cent back. Sick.

color coordinated beanie...stylish

About time the DSI stopped talking about situations like this and did something proactive like going out and bringing suspects in.

Easier i suppose to sit in an air conditioned office, issue summonses and grant extensions for the filmiest of excuses than do any real work unless of course that all the faffing around is deliberate in order certain cases go nowhere.

Any updates on the fugitive ex-monk or the luxury car tax scam ? No, oh what a surprise.

I know it may be a little tricky for you but could you please try to read the post and who it is about BEFORE wasting everybodys time with your usual politically biased ranting/

As an alternative if you have nothing useful to contribute, please don't bother to post at all.

amazing a monk has lawyer, amazing thai buddhism

Why not? The Pope probably has a couple of them. I have no objection to the lawyer but it should be "lawyer + respondent" not "lawyer instead of respondent."
