BANGKOK: -- SF Cinema insists it will show Fast & Furious 7 on release day Wednesday despite a court order essentially banning the film from Thai cinemas.

SF Cinema says it will make good on its contract with Universal Pictures’ international distributor to show the film unless it says otherwise, according to Morning News.

Sahamongkol Film sued Universal International Pictures along with parent studio Universal Pictures and Tony Jaa for THB1.6 billion compensation and 7.5 percent interest, as it says he broke his contract to take the Hollywood role. Last week the court issued an injunction blocking the film’s release in Thailand at the request of Sahamongkol Film.

Interesting to see if the reaction from the court is going to be Fast & Furious if SF indeed dares to ignore the injunction!!

That's about $ 50,000,000, which is a ludicrous amount of money for a contract issue. If they'd been sensible and demanded maybe a tenth of that figure, I expect Universal would have been willing to negotiate and everyone would have benefited. Stupid, stupid, stupid.

who cares crap movie like the previous 6

Great publicity for the movie. Genius way to get to be people to come is to tell them they can't lol.

The problem is between the actor and his employees it has nothing to do with Thailand.

Cant wait for the FF owners to come down on these people, do they really think they stand a chance? Try business outside of Thailand.

Yep. They are playing a poker game and Tony Jaa and company are trying a semi-bluff. As you said, a smaller amount and they might have gotten a settlement, especially if the lawsuit has any merits. Now, they are trying a court order which if enforced could cost SF a lot of revenue. SF seems to be stuck in the middle. They have a contract to show the film but are being told by Thailand they can't show the film. I would expect their show contracts would have escape clauses to cover such things. If not, then since Thailand is under Martial law, that in itself voids many types of insurance or other contracts.
