Two Canadian tourists rescued in Krabi sea

Krabi:- Two Canadian tourists and a Thai speed boat driver were rescued in the Krabi sea after their boat capsized about one nautical mile off the Hang Nak cape Monday.


The accident happened at noon off the coast of Moo 3 village in Tambon Nong Thalay in Krabi’s Mueang district.

Scores of people visit Red Cross Fair on first day despite hot weather

BANGKOK, 31 March 2015 (NNT) – Crowds flocked to the Red Cross Fair in Bangkok on Monday, on the first day of the annual charity event held to raise funds for the Thai Red Cross Society.


Despite the hot weather on Monday, scores of people made their way to the fair, which was spread throughout parts of Amphon Garden, the plaza around the Equestrian Statue, Sanam Sua Pa, Si Ayutthaya Rd. and Ratchadamnoen Nok Rd. This year's Red Cross Fair theme pays tribute to Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn, on the occasion of Her Royal Highness's 5th cycle birthday anniversary on April 2.

The fair features booths and stalls from as many as 200 state and private agencies, as well as from various foundations. The Thai Red Cross Fair will be held until April 7.

Thailand to commemorate Days of Civil Servants

BANGKOK, 31 March 2015 (NNT) – The Prime Minister’s Office Minister is working on the plan to organise the 2015 Cilvil Servants’ Day — set for this week.


According to Minister attached to PM’s Office M.L. Panadda Diskul, the celebration of the Civil Servants’ Day 2015 is planned for Tuesday and Wednesday.

The first day of celebration, to be held under the theme of “Being Service-Minded and Professionalism,” will be held at the Government Complex Commemorating His Majesty the King's 80th Birthday Anniversary.

M.L. Panadda said that an exhibition on the history of civil servants, seminars and booths selling merchandises and offering various services by all ministries will be ready for event-goers.

For the second day of the event, the venue will be at Government House. Prime Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha will deliver a speech to all civil servants before Deputy Prime Minister Wissanu Krea-ngam presents certificates and honorary pins to 624 government officials with outstanding performances.

Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand visit Mukdahan Governor

MUKDAHAN, 31 Mar 2015, (NNT) - Vietnamese Ambassador to Thailand, H.E. Nguy?n T?t Th?nh ( เหวียน ตัน ถั่น) yesterday visited Mukdahan Governor Sakolkrit Boonpradit and Thais of Vietnamese descent in the province.


During the meeting with the governor, the ambassador said that Thailand and Vietnam formed a close bound via several cooperation especially in trade, transportation, and labor market.

Ambassador Nguy?n T?t Th?nh highlighted the sister city campaign between Thailand’s Mukdahan and Vietnam’s Kwang Tree, praising one particular program that teaches the native language of the nations to their visiting exchange students.

He also expressed his gratitude toward the province for forging ties in economy, culture, tourism and sports, while adding that Vietnam is ready to support future cooperation, such as investment and trades.

Meanwhile, Governor Sakolkrit echoed Mr.H.E. Nguy?n T?t Th?nh's opinion on the outstanding relations between Mukdahan locals and Vietnamese. He also said that he is looking forward to future endeavors with the nation. Mr. Sakolkrit stated that Mukdahan and Kwan Tree had already signed a Memorandum of Understanding on trade and investment.

THAI continues to operates normal scheduled flights to Japan

BANGKOK, Thailand – Thai Airways International Public Company Limited (THAI) continues to operate regular commercial flights to destinations in Japan, as there is no impact from the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau’s (JCAB) announcement prohibiting Thailand’s chartered flights entering Japan.

Roadside bomb in Narathiwat wounds two police officers

BANGKOK: -- Two police officers were injured in a roadside bomb explosion in Ruesor district of Narathiwat province this morning.

The two officers identified as Lance Corporals Hasan Poji and Yutaporn Silabutr. Both were admitted to Ruesor hospital.

The roadside bomb was detonated as the two officers were on a patrol on the road in front of a petrol station, about 400 metres off Ruesor police station.

Explosive Ordnance Disposal team arrived this morning to inspect the scene and sealed the area for clearance if there was still any bomb left behind to harm the EOD police.

3.6 quake hits Mae Hong Son

BANGKOK: -- The Seismological Bureau today reported a 3.6 magnitude earthquake in Mae Sarieng district of Mae Hong Son province at about 11 pm Monday night.

The epicentre of the quake is four kilometres underground in Ban Mae Par Yomban of Tambon Saohin, Mae Sarieng district.

No damages were reported.

But the minor quake prompted the Mae Sarieng district officer Supasit Lakong to order local authorities to inspect the areas if any buildings were affected.

Local people said they felt the quake but there was no damage.

ASEAN Youth Camp participants visit Nakhon Pathom

NAKHON PATHOM, 31 March 2015, (NNT) - Participants in the ASEAN Youth Camp 2015 visited the central province of Nakhon Pathom, experienced the local culture and purchased its OTOP products.


More than 80 students from all ten member nations of ASEAN are attending a youth camp organized by Rajamangala University of Technology Rattanakosin and the Nakhon Pathom provincial administration office. The youth camp is scheduled from March 26 to April 7.

Organizers revealed that the camp’s main objective is to promote the use of English as a means of communication. Participants can use English to learn more about the nationalities, religions, languages, currencies, attire, and lifestyles of people from ASEAN nations. The organizers also believed that the activities would improve attitudes toward learning English among ASEAN youths.

Students taking part in this event learned about the culture, tradition and local games of Nakhon Pathom. Yesterday, they watched live traditional dance performances by students of Rachinee Burana School, then browsed through the province’s famous OTOP products.

Cabinet to consider joining Maritime Labour Convention 2006

BANGKOK, 31 March 2015 (NNT) - The Cabinet is expected to look into a disaster prevention plan and consider adopting the Maritime Labor Convention 2006.


In today’s Cabinet meeting, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives will ask the Cabinet whether it would be ideal for Thailand to participate in the Maritime Labour Convention 2006.

The ministry claimed that the agreement will provide offshore workers with access to medical treatment, as well as compel marine operators to provide the minimum working and living standards of the Convention.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Education will propose a budget cut for this year’s spending. Part of the money will be spent on renovating facilities at the Narathiwat Ratchanakarin University Hospital.

The ministry will also ask the cabinet to consider increasing financial support for vocational students at charity schools.

Free ice cream from police in Kanchanaburi

Kanchanaburi:- If water throwing is not enough to ease the almost unbearable heat of Thailand’s summer, revelers can also get free ice cream from tourist police in Kanchanaburi on April 17.


“We will hand out about 5,000 ice cream bars that day,” says Pol Lt Colonel Dr Chanathep Suankaew, a senior tourist police based in the western province.
