Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer of Thai AirAsia

BANGKOK: -- Thai AirAsia has witnessed a limited impact from the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO)'s safety concerns, as flights to China are operating as usual.

The airline operates 21 daily flights to 14 destinations in China.

At a press conference today, Tassapon Bijleveld, chief executive officer, said that Thai AirAsia and Thai AirAsiaX have no plan to operate chartered flights to China, Japan and South Korea.

The impact is now limited to its planned scheduled flights to Sapporo, Japan.

Tassapon said that the airline won Japan’s permission to operate the scheduled flights to Sapporo during May 1-June 30. He said that the permission followed Thailand’s Civil Aviation Department’s request to Japan Civil Aviation Bureau (JCAB).

To deal with tickets bought for travel after the relaxed period, he said the customers have four options including the full refund, postponement of the travelling date, and change the flights to Tokyo or Osaka instead.

To date, the airline maintains the target to serve 14.5 million passengers this year and to achieve the 83 per cent load factor.

83 % load factor sounds like BS to me.
