Thais Being Evacuated From Yemen as Country Nears Collapse

Thailand’s Foreign Ministry is planning on evacuating Thais out of Yemen as quickly as possible. The ministry is coordinating with other ASEAN nations in an attempt to bring back all nationals to Thailand. ASEAN nations will assist with the evacuation plans when possible, but there has been no further news on assistance plans.

This past Sunday, Thai students who were attending school in Yemen noted that they plan to leave the country. The Thai Embassy that is granted jurisdiction in Yemen is located in Oman. The embassy has been contacting students and expressing the danger they face if they do not leave the areas.

Saudi-led forces are attacking the country’s capital for the sixth consecutive day.

Concerns have reached all the way to the United Nations human rights chief, who has stated that the country is nearing collapse. Reports indicate that there have been dozens of civilian deaths so far. Attacks will continue until the uprising against the country’s president, Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, have ended, states the Saudi coalition.

Monday, an attack near a camp that was setup by the United Nations in 2009 spread alarm in the country. Air strikes hit the camp in northwest Yemen, killing 40 people and wounding 200. Among the injured are many children. When the camp was setup, there was said to be 4,000 people living in the area.

Confirmations from the UN indicate that there have been at least 93 civilian deaths since March 27^th, and attacks have been made on three hospitals. There has not been a death toll taken at the hospitals as of Tuesday.

The war-torn country has seen thousands of people flee. Education facilities remain empty, and many private homes have been destroyed as well as much of the country’s infrastructure.

Thailand authorities are trying to help students or any nationals in Yemen leave at this time.

As far as I'm aware the only conflict from Muslims within Thai society is in the deep South, they represent around 20% of the total Thai Muslim population with around 20k supporters for the localised conflict. Personally I do not believe one can link the issues in Europe to the general Thai Muslim population.
