Hi,

After four successful visit visas to the U.k my wife will be applying for a settlement visa next week.

I am self employed and have gathered all the relevant documents together and can show earnings over the minimum amount.

Will it be ok to submit all my bank statements, sa302, tax return, and company accounts etc for the tax year 5th april 2013 - 4th april 2014.

Her appointment is on the 10th april so there will have been a full year between my last set of accounts and the appointment date.

I have bank statements etc until right now but my most recent accounts could not be done before the appointment.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Thanks

Rich

Just to clarify i submitted the application today (3rd april) and the appointment to submit documents is on the 10th.

Is it correct that they require proof of income for the last full financial year before the application date which would be april 2013 to april 2014 rather than the day that the documents will be submitted ?

Thanks

From Part 9. Self-employment or Director of a specified limited company in the UK of the guidance

9.1. Category F: Last full financial year
9.1.1. Where the applicant’s partner (and/or the applicant if they are in the UK with permission to work) is in self-employment, or is the director of a specified limited company in the UK, at the date of application, they can use income from the last full financial year to meet the financial requirement.

I think, but am not 100% sure, that it is the date the online form was submitted which counts as the date of application, not the date she hands in the documents.

If so then as the online application was submitted before the end of the 2014/15 tax year it is figures for the 2013/14 one which are required.

Hopefully someone with actual experience or greater knowledge, such as Tony M, will see this and respond.

The guidance gives the requirements and specified evidence required depending on whether you are a sole trader, partner, franchisee or company director; which you may find helpful.

I agree with 7x7. Logically, it is the figures for 2013/2014 that you need to provide, as you submitted the online application before the end of the 2014/2015 tax year. It's worth bearing in mind, though, that the date of application is actually ( accoding to UKVI) the date that the fee is taken ( and that might not actually be the date that the application is submitted online), I guess ?

Hi,

I thought that was the case as on the application form it says date application submitted online 3rd April. Even though we have not submitted the documents according to this the application has been submitted and paid for on the 3rd.

Thanks again for your advice and i will let you know whether this was the case or not. It would be impossible for me to finalise my 2014- 2015 accounts by the 10th of April so i guess we will see what happens.

Thanks
