The Daily Mail UK site is banned in Thailand and has been for many months, it's nothing to do with Marmite!

Nonesense....the mail did publish an offending article and the 'news' section was banned, but the sports etc was not.

I have been reading it with no problems, and I dont need to use any other sites

I am not a computer geek and have no need for these alternative ways of obtaining certain web sites

So It is to do with Marmite !!!!!

Printed version of the Daily Mail is OK - with newsprint, you can't click on a link to old articles/videos.

Marmite, are you mad! I'm sure there are ways to view Mail online using proxies, hula, etc. but as a standard they remain banned as most members will confirm - possible also using overseas ISP's who will allow access. I was unable to access Mail online using 3BB and now with TOT Fibre, exactly the same, nothing but the green screen.

Mail is fine using TRUE online and 3BB. Well it is for me anyway. Don't know about other ISPs

Interesting to see that access is different in places such as Phuket, am unsure if that is a quirk or is intended as such, perhaps someone with knowledge of DNS servers et al can account for the difference?

I read it every day. I understand it's against forum rules to say how to circumvent the ban, just let's say I don't use proxy servers or anything like that, I wouldn't know how, I'm a computer moron.

Any perceived censorship of foreign news websites by local authorities is all in your cache mind...

You think!

"Year by year Internet censorship has grown, with its focus shifting to lèse majesté, national security, and political issues. By 2010, estimates put the number of websites blocked at over 110,000.[5] In December 2011, a dedicated government operation, the Cyber Security Operation Center, was opened. Between its opening and March 2014, the Center told ISPs to block 22,599 URLs.[6]

The subsequent 2014 Thai coup d'état has led to further restrictions on Internet content in the country, using the powers of the coup's National Council for Peace and Order.[7]"

It's blocked for me on 3bb in chiang mai. I am not sure I am missing anything though. It's a poor newspaper. It's a bit like Mcdonalds tell people the chicken and beef are rotten until they "revive" it with chemicals, people still want eat there. Tell people some of the Mail's stories are bogus and misleading people still happy to read them.

Try this then. Most perceived censorship of foreign news websites by local authorities is all in your web browser cache mind...

clue: try googling "clear web browser cache" instead of wiki'ing for something that is common knowledge already.

Are you well, I mean really, are you OK? Clearing browser cache is the panacea to resolve all sites blocked by government!

That is clearly not what I have said twice already. But maybe English isn't your first language?
