VEC launches vehicle check-up service campaign for Songkran holidays

BANGKOK, 6 April 2015 (NNT) – Vehicle check-up service points will be set up by vocational education students to facilitate the commute during the Songkran holidays, says VEC Secretary-General.

The Secretary-General of the Vocational Education Commission (VEC) Chaipreuk Sereerak has said that the VEC will launch vehicle check-up service services operated by vocational education students, with the campaign's motto being: ‘Conscious, Discipline, Spirit, Safety: Passing on the Songkran Tradition’ in keep with the government’s policy.

He has said that the campaign will allow vocational students to utilize their knowledge for actual beneficial experience during the Songkran holidays, as a part of the project that has been organized in the second year, for the New Year and Songkran holidays. The project will also help increase safety for commuters during the holidays.

Vehicle inspection and repair services will be available at 250 service points on the main and local roads nationwide from 8:30am-12:00am. Some service points will provide overnight services, while some service points will be placed in cooperation with their related agencies. These service points will utilize purple and orange tents for commuters to identify them, while refreshments will also be available for drivers using the service of this campaign at the tents as well.

The campaign is sponsored by many agencies, including the Road Safety Fund, Thai Motorcycle Enterprise Association, and business companies on automobile.

Well in Bangkok about 25% of all drivers doesn't have proper lights on their vehicles. I guess it's too hard for them to change a lightbulb, maybe the vocational students can do that for them? The police doesn't seem to care, who needs good working lights on their car/motorbike anyway? Mai pen rai krab, sabaai sabaai.

And on Thaivisa about 25% of all posters "doesn't" have access to proper statistics. I guess it's too hard for them to research properly, much better to throw a wildly exaggerated figure about in a lame attempt to bash Thais again and bash the police in particular.

That guy is just insane,

I drive daily in Bangkok, also at night and on backroads, and especially at night they all do as they like. No lights, no helmets, racing, and i have never seen the police doing anything against it. Not in more then a decade.
