She is applying for a 12 month extension of stay.

Not a Non O Visa.

There is no requirement to be over 40.

She needs a Non O Visa to start the application.

Each permission shall be granted for no more than one year.

(1) The alien must have been granted a non-immigrant visa (NON-IM).
(2) The alien must have proof of relationship.
(3) In the case of spouse, the relationship must be de jure and de facto: or
(4) In the case of children, adopted children, or spouse's children, said children, adopted children, and spouse's children must not be married, must live with the alien as part of the family, and must not be over 20 years of age: or
(5) In the case of parents, funds must be deposited in a bank in Thailand, under the father's or the mother's name, of no less than Baht 500,000 for the past three months. For the first year only, the applicant must have proof of a deposit account in which said amount of funds has been maintained for no less than 30 days prior to the filing date

There is no age limit. You should prepare a perfect application and hand it in. if issue ask to speak with a supervisor. If they don't speak English better to go in company of an educated Thai, e/g/ school teacher and bring a copy of the regulations in Thai.

No "O" visas available for your purpose from Immigration . The Officer was correct .

Take a trip a trip to another country and apply for the "O" visa at a Thai Embassy/Consulate !

She needs the non-imm 'O' visa first. She can contact a visa agent in Penang, Malaysia to find if the consulate there would issue her one based on the kid's paperwork and bank statements. Search on this forum for recommended agents, one is named Jim.

I am certain she was told by immigration that she needed a 3 month non immigrant O visa not a tourist visa.

There was apparently a misunderstanding then.

Egypt is on the list of countries that can only get visas in their home country. I don't think an agent can overcome that problem.

The embassy certainly gave her the wrong info. They should of issued the visa based upon the child holding a non-ed visa.

Immigration cannot change a tourist visa to non immigrant visa based upon qualifying for an extension of stay based upon being the parent of a child attending school.

The school has no word about immigration regulations. Bt 500,000 is written and 500,000 it is.
