Non immigrant O (marriage) Penang or KL

Featured Replies

Hi

I just called an agency in Penang, they told me I need 100.000 baht in my bank account if im a farang woman married a thai man.

I don't think that is accurate, as all the people including a thai lawyer told me it is not needed for a western woman.

Has anyone done a similar application recently?

Im considering going to Kuala Lumpur, but how hard is it to get one there? And is there an agency just as Penang that can help you?

Kind regards

Therese

Are you wanting a single or multiple entry non-o visa.

Penang does not ask for financial proof to get a single entry non-o visa. For a multiple entry you will need to show financial proof.

The lawyer and others is referring to the requirements for getting an extension of stay based on marriage at immigration.

No she clearly said to me: you need 100 000 for a single entry application, and 800 000 for an extension of stay ones obtained. She said they changed it, I heard sometimes agencies say this so it wont be a problem.

I have also been told from my Thai school, my old lawyer and several other people, when you are western woman you DONT need proof of bank statement, but your husband clearly need to be able to support your stay in Thailand, possibly work letter and his bank statements. etc

You don't need any financial proof for a 12 month extension.

Your husband will have to show up but he wont have to prove much in the way of finances.

You were told the wrong info. The 800k baht is for a single entry non-o for retirement and/or an extension of stay.

Their was a recent report of a lady getting a single entry non-o with no financial proof. The same for men going there to get one.

Some immigration offices may want proof of income from your husband but many do not ask for it. I have heard of an income of 15k baht being needed in the past.

What about the 100 000 baht she said i needed to have in my bank account?

As I said you will not need it to get the single entry non-o visa. There have been reports of getting them with no financial proof of any kind.

The agent is just giving you incorrect info.
