Insurance companies to offer discount to victims of fake brokers

BANGKOK, 11 April 2015 (NNT) -The Thai General Insurance Association will offer a 50-percent discount to car owners who have been tricked into buying fake insurance.

According to the Thai General Insurance Association (TGIA), the offer is intended to help alleviate worries and financial trouble caused to car owners who were duped by illegal brokers.

Customers wishing to get the markdown are required to show an insurance company their proof of fraud, comprising a complaint report issued by police or the Insurance Commission, and pay slips from illegal brokers.

The association has now discovered a further six cases of fraud. The affected car owners have notified police. Investigators are collecting evidence before pressing charges against the offenders.

The Insurance Commission, meanwhile, has suggested insurance customers choose licensed brokers by logging onto www.oic.or.th
