Robert24
I recently bought a machine that runs on electricity but I didn't realize you need 3 phase electricity to run it. We only have 2 phase electricity where I stay. Tried to run it on 2 phase but doesn't work. Spoke to the government office for electricity but they said they can't supply any 3 phase electricity to where I stay. Does anyone know how to resolve this? I was told by someone you could buy an inverter that would change the electricity from 2 to 3 phase. Any experts on this? Appreciate any help. gk10002000
Not my strongest suit, but there are plenty of phase converters out there. I don't know where to get them in Thailand. Three phase motors and machinery are pretty common so there are likely several companies there that provide the converters for Thai 210 single phase to three phase. Seems like some modern solid state units are very nearly plug and play. Online ordering and delivery always seemed a risky proposition to me in Thailand but online ads seem to place moderately rated converters at around $200 USD for one horse-power rated units. The price goes up the more power you need. Some industrial units start at $5,000 USD. I defer to the electrical experts out there. http://www.temcophaseconverter.com/ TEMCO has examples of units probably in the range of what you need. http://www.powerstream.com/converter-1-phase-to-3-phase-1500va.htm This unit seems like overkill and is in the $5,000 USD range. Popular Post sipi
What type of machine and what size motor? Might be cheaper to replace the motor with a single phase rather than trying to supply 3 phase to existing motor.
mikecwm
I'm no electrician, but may be facing a smilar situation soon - so I did some Googling:- http://www.finewoodworking.com/workshop/qa/three-phase-machines-in-shop.aspx This will at least explain your options.
