Three garbage collectors in Bang Na were injured yesterday when two homemade bombs exploded. There was a total of four bombs found outside of a home in the Bang Na district.

Two of the men escaped the incident with minor injuries, but Surach Sithipanya, only 21, suffered severe damage to his right hand. The other two men suffered cuts and ringing in the ears.

The explosion occurred when the garbage collectors were sorting the garbage outside of Sukhumvit Soi 101/1. Thankfully, only half of the bombs exploded at the time. It is said that the homemade bombs looked like “ping pong” balls.

After the explosions, the police quickly searched the home where the explosion occurred. Police found a sword, cudgel and an unregistered pistol. There were no materials found in the home that would indicate the bombs were made on the property.

Police do not have any leads on the bombing so far, but they suspect that the bombs were dumped by youths. A police checkpoint is close to the area where the bombing occurred, so it is suspected that the youths dumped their homemade bombs before the checkpoint to avoid them being found.

Police are examining CCTV recordings to find the assailants.

The Thais are quick to blame "youth" on yet another bomb explosion in Bangkok . When will the international community take note of the bombings in Thailand? When will the Thais face the facts that they have a problem with security and investigation?
