Minister won't reveal names on graft list
The Nation

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Interior Minister Suthi Makbun yesterday refused to confirm that some of the 100-plus officials on the corruption blacklist were ministry officials involved in the procurement of herbicides and fertiliser.

Suthi said he had not seen the list, but would take appropriate legal action as soon as he got his hands on it. The ministry under his supervision had increased transparency.

The Damrongtham Centre, which collects complaints from the public regarding state irregularities, has proved instrumental in weeding out corrupt officials, he added.

ML Panadda Diskul, permanent secretary of the PM's Office, said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha had prepared measures to deal with the 100 officials on the list, though he denied knowing their names.

The list reportedly includes some local administration executives.

The government wants to speed up its crackdown on self-serving officials to make it one of its achievements.

If the list is the first Top 100 it's beyond belief that there's any of them who aren't connected so ... !

The only glitch would be to have connections to those who are no longer in power.

Seriously,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, From the local Pu Yi Bann to the top job in BKK, and 100 names is the best they can do??? Someone's taking the P*ss,

Really guy's if ya want the country and the world to take you seriously then you need to do a lot better than this pathetic token offering.

Now have a real crack at the thieving corrupt scumbags and get a little of that much desired respect, but that will only come once justice is seen to be done and not the old inactive post or transferred gig again.

Waiting for costas, djjamie, and hollaween, to come along singing and dancing and praising their bro-mance again. makes me laughcheesy.gif

This graft and corruption is not going away, not in our lifetimes anyway. Accept the fact that whoever is in power will make the most of it and whoever is not in power will do whatever they can to get their turn at the trough.

Thais probably don't even see it as being something wrong or immoral, it's just part of life.

But 100 names, that is a joke. thumbsup.gif

so predictable. I bet you the list does not even exist.

I would bet my life it did not exist when the Shins ruled !

Is there a Thai word for "TRANSPARENCY"? If so, how come a minister don't know about it?

Transparency, now there's a thing.

Apart from perhaps never finding out the names of any of those on the list will we ever be told how someone made the list ?

If this first list is the Top 100 are they on it because of the amounts involved, because they are so senior it aggravates their abuse and corruption or because they were connected to / involved with people current designated as the ' wrong ' ones or any other possible reason ?

How long will it take for action to be authorised and if anyone in the media ever has the balls for ask for a progress report will the answer be ' still under consideration ' which might mean the list has been moved from the PM's IN tray to the ' Too Hard ' or ' Pending ( Long Term ) trays ?

How many Snowden's would it take to to make the names of all corrupt individuals in Thailand public? That makes me re-think my adverse approach towards cloning.

Why is there no corruption officials in Chiang Mai. Second biggest city in Thailand and and just as bad as Bangkok!

If you had read previous and related posts you may have noticed the number is not a round 100 and it is the first list the second one is larger I believe. They have to somewhere and whatever the number was it would still not satisfy you!

Since you seem to have absolutely no idea what a failed state actually is, I have added a link, even has some nice pictures, so that you can be informed as to what a real failed state looks like to the outside world.

Thailand may have some problems, big ones too, but failed, it ain't.coffee1.gif
