Quick Visa Question

Featured Replies

Hello,

I'm 22 and have a British Passport.

I plan on going to Thailand on the 13th Aug for 42 days with three others (brit passports + same age).

Am I right in saying our options are;

Pay 1900 TB each on arrival to extend the legality of our stay to 60 days?

Or

Visit another country within the first 29 days and then return to renew our 30 day visa exemption period? (So we're covered for our full 42 stay).

If we did the second option, would flying to Singapore for a weekend suffice? Would Thai immigration want to see evidence of pre-booked flights to Singapore on our first arrival into Thailand or can we sort that out once there.

Lastly for the paying the 1900 TB for the 30 extension option. Can this definitely be done in the airport (Bangkok international) or is it something that should be sorted in the UK before leaving.

Cheers

Jake

Why not just get tourist visas before leaving the UK ?

An easy process which can be achieved either at the Thai Embassy in London or one of the Hon.Thai consultants

A tourist visa provides for a 60 stay in country and the stay can be extended for 1900 Bht at an immigration office.

Following your plan may result in the airline refusing you boarding unless you have a flight ticket out of Thailand within the 30 visa exempt period.

To stay 42 days uninterrupted in Thailand your best choice would be get a tourist visa in your country, as it cost less and take less time than getting extension, or leaving and re-entering, and avoid trouble with the airline refusing to board as explained below:

You cannot extend your 30 day visa exempt entry on arrival. You can get a 30 day extension at an immigration office for a fee of 1900 baht.

Without a visa you could be denied boarding your flight without a ticket out of the country within 30 days of arrival.

Get a Tourist visa before coming.

Doing that is far less hassle than spending hours at Immigration in Bangkok getting an extension or having to leave the country.
