Would the real ToT please stand up

I've been using ToT Fiber2U for about a year now. It has been very reliable and consistent albeit not very fast. The international routing has always been pretty terrible though. For that reason I also have TRUE adsl for my online gaming. In the past ping to my Australian server was 280 with ToT and 150 with TRUE.

A couple weeks ago I tested the ping on ToT and to my surprise it was sitting at 150 and has been the same since then. On top of that downloads have been blazingly fast eg: 400MB torrents in around 3 minutes. Regular downloads have also been very good. This is at anytime day or night.

I'm not sure what has changed but I LIKE IT! I won't cancel my TRUE connection just yet but if things stay as they are I will drop it fairly soon. I really hope that the changes are here to stay.

Just out of curiosity what do you get here [119.15.96.156]?

Nevermind. I just tried immi.gov.au [164.97.249.33] and got 165. Must be a location thing. I'm in Nonthaburi btw.

135 ms on avarage. That is close to your result.

Half the time of immi.gov.au [164.97.249.33].

Obviously it is all about the route(rs) on the way.

One seems to go over Hongkong (lot of time lost in Australia), the other straight from Singapore to Perth.

See hops 8 or 9 where the ping jumps to three digits numbers.

Such numbers can change from day to day. As a private user you will not get a garantuee for the shortest route.

I have Sophon fiber. Just tested mine and got 12 ms, 10.8 download and 1.0 up load.

Did you do some kind of speedtest? Because they won't give you accurate speeds for anything outside of Thailand, unless you go to a proper test site like http://testmy.net/

I live in rural Thailand using a TOT WiNet link.

I pay for 10mB download and 1 mB upload

doc 1 is a screenshot using ADSL Speed test to Hong Kong

doc 2 is the same test using your link http://testmy.net/ to Hong Kong

Sounds like my experience. It is as though by running a speedtest you get the TOT servers to wake up and actually function. Discovered this trick purely by accident. It seems to solve all our internet connection problems, no more trauma calling them everyday for a week, once a month, before anything is done. No more putting up with listening to their lazy lies and promises they have no intention of keeping. A total nightmare is now over. Run the speedtest and bingo back to normal.

Yes when my TOT internet is slow I also do a speed test to TOT and it speeds up as if by magic. Been doing it for well over a year now.

My ToT linked failed this morning and when I logged onto their site I could see that the WiNet link was down. I left it until about 12.45 and called the local guys up in Khampaeng Phet.

I gave them all the info details and he said he would call me back.

5 minutes later he called me back and said the link was back up, and it was.

Good friendly helpful service from a guy who can speak a fair bit of English and I said thank you for your help.

About a week ago my ToT was down when I got up in the morning. I left it because I had to go to work anyway. When I got home in the afternoon it was still down so my wife called support. They told us to wait 15 minutes then restart the router. Did just that and all was working again.

Did you try and contact ToT and get the routing changed, were you connecting to a fixed IP ?

I used to have a seedbox in Europe, 3BB were great when it came to analysing the TRACERT and reducing the number of hops.

LOL that's unbelievable. So they give you a fast pass when you access speedtest? Only TOT could come up with something as dumb as that. I will use that trick from now on.
