Chiang Khong Immigration Office

Featured Replies

It would appear that the office in Chiang Khong has finally opened.

An Immigration Officer based there visited me yesterday (not sure if he saw me outside my house and stopped or came specifically) and checked my passport. He said that the office had opened the day before (during Songkran?) and that I could do my 90-day check in there in future rather than by post, or email or travel to Chiang Sene. No idea what other services are available.

The office is on the left after Tesco Lotus, down the hill towards the bridge heading into town. It's in the Border Police headquarters building.

No - that is an old office location and its at the wrong end of town.

I don't know how to show location - maybe https://www.google.de/maps/@20.247919,100.411425,3a,75y,303.97h,83.62t/data=!3m4!1e1!3m2!1shEb0MQPIWzDy-s2OADyl7g!2e0

This is very old google street map view - Border Police office is up that track. I will take some pictures and post them.

If you can identify the building's location on Google Maps, right-click on that spot, then on the small menu that pops up click on " What's here?" A small overlying window opens near the top left of the screen and the last line of text in that window has the GPS coordinates which can be copied and pasted into your post.
Hopefully, you can manage this, so that I may put this immigration office on the map of Thai immigration offices.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Co-ordinates are

20.248012, 100.410307

On the Chiang Saen (!) immigration website there seems to be information about this new location.

http://chiangsaen.immigration.go.th/home.html

Didn't try to go through all the text, but easy to find: starting April 1st. 2015.

Moving the office there?

The text is erroneous, because it says there was a ceremony on April (!) 26th 2015 at the old site before moving and opening on April 1st.

Obviously a ceremony on March 26th?

Co-ordinates are

20.248012, 100.410307

From comparsion of the coordinates (map) and this picture shown on the website, it seems to be the place.

Offices are not yet open according to someone I talked to today. He said that they are still awaiting computer systems to be installed and that it might be another couple of months! Nice new office building.
