Solar Cell Panels > Mono vs Poly

Recommended Posts

Monocrystalline panels are more efficient but also more expensive. You need to get some quotations from various manufacturers and, based on kWp as well as panel cost, do a little bit of economic analysis.

The only real considerations, IMHO, when buying solar panels is:

1. Cost per Watt Hour

2. How they age

If space is very tight, you might also consider efficiency.

Don't take it to extremes though - i.e. don't save another 2 Baht/Wh to buy a no-name brand vs. something respected.

Thank You

it looks like Mono panels would be the best for Grid Tie project

Now is Next Big question.

Where to get best price for about 20 Mono 295W panels

Where to get best price for about 20 Mono 295W panels

Actually, with that comes the next piece of advice smile.png

Don't lock your self into a particular wattage rating panel - look for the most cost and space effective way to achieve your overall watt-hour target.

In your case, it appears you're looking for around 6kWh - and you might find that 24x 250w panels works out better on cost or space or both.

Try AmornSolar.com for well priced products with good dealer support.

I am looking for at least 10KWh,

6 aircons, pool, jacuzzy, 3 hot water bathrooms

Then you may want to look over this other ThaiVisa misplaced thread

My 9000 BTU aircon uses about 3.8 Amps when the compressor is running.
So ignoring power factor and losses for the moment 3.8 x 235 = 893 Watts
so about 10 100W solar panels going full tilt + 1 more for the inverter loss might be possible.

Why are my air-con units on 15A fuses then?

When they startup they can use more Amps, my aircon (12k BTU inverter) uses when running 3.9 amps but the manufacturer recommends at least a 10amp breaker.
It *could* work if your installation allowed secondary power boost assist/reserve when devices needed to draw extreme amounts when starting.
Also, I leave open the possibility that maybe the expats in Chiang Mai are the ones misplaced, not the topic thread.

Ii *can* work just fine - the grid tie inverter doesn't support the load, the grid does. Even in a hybrid scenario with a self-use bias it can still work with a quality inverter that can support multiples of it's standard rating for a few seconds at a time.
