Nationals of some countries can get a visa at a Thai consulate in Malaysia only if they are resident in Malaysia.

The single biggest problem in communication is the illusion that it has taken place

Sorry, not understanding how this is different from my understanding of it. Just to clarify, please, I'm US so I can get a tourist visa in KL?

But only a single entry good for 60 days?

You can try to get a tourist visa in KL. But their requirements are not predictable from one day to the next.

You will only get a single entry visa.

^ Requirements as to docs needed from fickleness of desk staff you mean, and not having anything to do with the nationality list re post 26?

  • 5 weeks later...

Nationals of the following countries are REQUIRED to have been residing in Malaysia for a minimum of SIX (6) MONTHS under employment/professional/dependent/student /marriage pass

The 18 countries mentioned in Repost 26 http://static.thaivisa.com/forum//public/style_images/master/icon_share.png, doesn't have to have PR in Malaysia to apply for tourist visa.

Am I right?

I think you will find the requirements have been updated

http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/contents/files/services-20150909-173935-504463.pdf

Check the date stamp at the bottom of the page.

And check the stated requirements for a visa to be issued to any citizen of a "listed" country.

http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/962/18989-Required-Documents.html

Please go through this link http://www.thaiembassy.org/kualalumpur/th/services/962/18987-LIST-OF-COUNTRIES-THAT-MUST-HAVE-RESIDENT-IN-MALAY.html

If the requirements have been updated; then this page would not be on their official website.

The countries listed to have a resident of minimum 6 months are also mentioned in the other list. Which brings the confusion.

If anyone has any experience from both the list; please share?

whistling.gif I posted this same information on this forum topic back in July 2015.

I was attempting to get a double entry tourist visa from Penang.

I was informed I would be given a single entry only, as a double entry required me to show a Malaysian residence card.

At that same time there were Malaysians outside the consulate making copies of their Malaysian I.D. cards as they were also being told they would get only one entry without a copy of their I.D. cards.

As you should know if you have been there, there is a man with a camera and a copy machine doing photos and copies of documents from the back of his van just outside of the entrance to the consulate in Penang.

The day I was there he was doing a booming business doing photocopies of Malaysian I.D. cards for those Malaysians who were applying for visas to enter Thailand.

Background..... I applied or and received double entry tourist visa in 2014 from Penang.

I tried to apply for another double entry tourist in July 2015, but as I said,I was told then that unless I had a Malaysian residence card I would not be allowed to get another double entry tourist visa.

However, they did allow me a single entry then.

I said that in July in my post.

So now, I say it again.

P.S. I am a U.S. national with a U.S. Passport
